The reserve at the gate of the city
The salt pans, a chessboard of mirrors of salt water, at sunset reflect shades of pink, red and blue that seem to compete with the golden backlight of the sun now on the horizon.
The old mills, some of which have been restored, are still witnesses of the sacredness of their function and of the precious treasure of the sea salt.
In winter, the salt grouped in heaps and then covered with ancient terracotta tiles interlocked in a wise way, becomes a landscape attraction both for pink flamingos and for various species of migratory birds.
