The island of the Phoenicians, Called even San Pantaleo or Mozia

Not far from Trapani, on a small island connected to the mainland by a submerged Punic road, where until a few decades ago it was possible to see carts laden with salt or grapes crossing it, stands Mozia, which was an ancient and rich Phoenician city.

In the early 1900s, Joseph Whitaker, owner of the island, started the archaeological excavations which brought to light numerous works of art and the remains of ancient civilizations. Also visible on the island are Phoenician tubs for dyeing purple, dry docks and the museum.
