Castellammare del Golfo is a charming town that is part of the province of Trapani. It rises on the sea, on the slopes of the mountain complex of Mount Inici, a natural inlet on which the Norman castle is located. Castellammare bases its economy on tourism by leveraging the natural riches and the clear waters that bathe it, the Faraglioni of Scopello, the Guidaloca Bay and the Zingaro nature reserve located to the east have made the small town a renowned and sought-after seaside resort.

The Castle

In the heart of the city near the port stands the Castle, it is thought that it was built by the Arabs in the tenth century. The first certain news, however, dates back to the Norman period, later it was the Swabians who fortified it with defensive walls and towers before being destroyed and rebuilt by Frederick II of Aragon.
Over the years there were many owners and the changes made, today it has three access bridges and a masonry bridge that replaced the drawbridge.
The structure, now public and divided into 4 areas, houses the Museum of Water and Mills, the Museum of Productive Activities, the Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Maritime Activities.


The Coast

The coast of Castellamare del Golfo is of unique beauty, especially the part exposed to the west is able to offer breathtaking scenery and landscapes, it is no coincidence that it is the main reason of interest that attracts thousands of tourists.
The most famous and suggestive beach is "La Tonnara" near the tonnara of Scopello with its Faraglioni, an enchanted place where the crystalline waters are the masters surrounded by luxuriant and varied nature. How to reach Castellammare del Golfo

Castellammare del golfo is located perfectly in the center between the "Vincenzo Florio" Airport of Trapani Birgi and the "Falcone e Borsellino” in Palermo Punta Raisi, the small town can be reached from both airports by taking the A29 motorway. The connections with public transport are not very efficient, waiting times and long distances do not recommend their use.
